Slavery

Slavery, or involuntary servitude, is an ancient human institution in which individuals or institutions, own the bodies of human beings. Most of what has conventionally been thought of as "slavery", such as physically owning the entire output of a particular person, have been abolished on most of the Earth. There are, however, other forms of slavery which often go unnoticed, or are viewed by the average person as essential.

Traditional Slavery

Traditional slavery has been around since prehistory and is now mostly abolished. Under this form of slavery, individuals are captured and sold into slavery. These individuals may have defaulted on debts, been sold by relatives or perhaps outright abducted. When purchased, they were typically made to perform agricultural tasks for their master.
