Double Seal (雙封) — Six-Harmony Mantis

Updated 2026-06-08
On this page

雙封 (Shuāng Fēng, "Double Seal") is the sixth and longest core sequence of Six-Harmony Praying Mantis (張詳三 line) — 39 postures that gather the branch's vocabulary into its capstone solo set. The "double seal" names its method of shutting both of the opponent's gates at once; the form runs through the intercepting hand (攔截手), the mother-and-child linked threading (子母連環穿), the golden-scissors hand (金剪手), the millstone hand (磨盤手), and the iron-cannon (鐵炮開城).

What it trains

  • 雙封 (double sealing) — closing both lines simultaneously

  • 子母連環穿 (mother-and-child linked threading) — the chained threading attack

  • 金剪手 / 磨盤手 — the scissors and millstone hands

  • 鐵炮開城 — "the iron cannon breaks the city-gate," the form's heavy finish before the shared close

Place in the curriculum

The 張詳三 Taiwan line teaches its empty-hand art as six core sequences (六趟) — 鐵齒 · 善手奔 · 鏡裡藏花 · 截手圈 · 葉底藏花 · 雙封 — alongside 六合短捶 and 六合拳. This is the sixth and longest of the six. All six core sequences share the same closing run: 進步跺腳 → 破膝 → 掛耳圈.
